This program offers 24 weeks of Wednesday am or pm interval training workouts. The first 12 weeks are hill training workouts on Buffalo Bayou. The second 12 weeks are speed training workouts alternating between Lamar High School track workouts and speed play workouts on the outer northwest trail of Memorial Park. Great for pure short distance road racers, triathletes or marathoners or half marathoners preparing for the Houston Marathon. This program can be purchased separately or is also included in our "Essentials" marathon & half marathon program. 12 weeks of hills or track can also be purchased separately (scroll down for those options). Hill Interval Training

US Marathon Olympic Gold medalist, Frank Shorter, once said that hill training is "speed work in disguise" . In our opinion hill training is the missing link that most runners need to take their running to a whole new level. Mimicking hilly terrain during training physically and mentally prepares runners for what they may face on the race course and can help improve race times from the 5K to marathon distance and beyond. Do you have the need for speed? Who doesn't and honestly the only way you will run faster is to practice running faster in a controlled environment. Improved times with various interval distances on a 400 meter track improves turnover, form, power and can really help bring those race times down. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned veteran Houston runner the all important weather forecast is always something you should check before you head out the door on your next run. Houston weather can change in a heartbeat so we have a collection here of links to our favorite Houston weather forecast. Most key in on central Houston's Memorial Park area, the running mecca of Houston. For our members we also announce weather cancellations for group runs on this page so you always know our weather status before you head out for the next group run with us. Member Group Run Weather Cancellation Page
We have been pretty lucky over the past few years but sometimes the weather just doesn't cooperate and we have to cancel group runs. We base group run cancellation decisions on weather in the zip code area of our starting point (usually Houston's Memorial Park - zip code 77001) and the planned routes from there. Cancelled runs are not rescheduled so when a run is cancelled we recommend to all runners to run the planned route for that week on their own later in the day on a Saturday when weather clears or the following Sunday. Generally we will run in the rain unless the streets are flooding, there are reported lightning strikes in the area or the Houston area is under severe weather or Tropical Storm or Hurricane warnings. If we call either a mid week workout or Saturday long run we will call it at least 45 minutes prior to our scheduled meeting time and post it on this page. Just check our Weather Cancellation Page so you don't waste a trip to the Park if a run is cancelled. Book mark this In Flight Weather Cancellation Page below and check it before you head out to a group run when you are not sure if we are meeting or not. When in doubt just show up at Memorial Park or our planned meeting place as the weather there may differ greatly from that in your neighborbood.
