Train For Our Flagship Races Houston, San Antonio

Season Expanded Through February 2011 To Support
Austin & New Orleans Races
Due to the addition of the Houston
Marathon lottery, In Flight Running has expanded
our season to offer extended long run support leading
up to the New Orleans Mardi Gras Rock n Roll Marathon
& Half Marathon on 02.13.10 and the Austin LiveStrong
Marathon & Half Marathon on 02.20.10. Our target
races for 2010 & early 2011 races also include
the Houston and San Antonio marathons and half marathons.
Train for one of our flagship marathons/half marathons
this year or choose from a training schedule for
other fall or winter races including on the chart
below. Have an off the menu race you are interested
in training for during the September 2010 - February
2011 time frame? We can write you a training schedule
for just about any half marathon or marathon out
there.

We have been training Houston area runners for our
Hometown race for over ten years with great success.
For first time marathon or half marathoners training
for your local, home town race is a wise choice. The
Houston marathon is one of the flatest courses in
the nation so for more experienced runners it betters
their chances of earning that Boston qualifier time.
Now in it's 39th year the race has grown in popularity
from 113 runners in 1972 to 18,000 in 2009 with runners
represented from all 50 states and over 20 countries.
The race also has a great Expo which is the largest
fitness/wellness expo annually.
If you are not successful with
the Houston Marathon lottery then take a look at the
other flagship races below as your plan B.
Now in it's third year, the San Antonio Rock n Roll
marathon is already one of the country's largest road
races. Something about the combination of running,
Mexican food, margaritas and the laid back atmosphere
of the Alamo City keeps runners coming back for more.
The race made improvements last year over the inagural
year and Rock n Roll races nation wide are the best
value for your racing dollars. This year let us train
you up for this great race. Last year we had about
40 runners take the trip down I10 to run this one.
We will be planning a group road trip for this race
so you can train right here in Houston and run with
your In Flight team mates in San Antonio.
In the old days the Austin Motorola
marathon was king with one of the best run races in
the country. But since Motorola left as the primary
sponsor Austin has been hit our miss with some years
that were not the best. Last year we heard much better
race reviews out of Austin and this year the race
has announced that Lance Armstrong's "LiveStrong"
organization signed a 3 year deal as lead sponsor.
That is great news as Lance won't put his name on
anything unless it strives for a first class event.
Due to the Houston Marathon adding a lottery this
year many have decided to forego Houston and give
register for Austin. Not as flat as Houston but the
beer, live music and Tex Mex food afterwards can't
be beat.
Another town taken over by the Rock
n Roll Marathon series and we aren't complaining.
The Rock n Roll races are some of the best managed
in the country and now you have a chance to run one
in the Big Easy. With this marathon only 2 weeks off
of the Houston Marathon's January 30, 2011 date is
is also an alternative to those who were not lucky
enough to have their lottery number come up for Houston.
New Orleans has had more than their share of bad luck
first with Katrina and now dealing with the BP oil
spill mess. So if you really want your dollars going
to an economy that really needs it invest your tourism
dollars this year with the New Orleans Rock and Roll
Marathon or Half Marathon. Plenty of places to drink
and eat afterwards to celebrate your finish line victory.
Training Schedules Also
Available For The Following Fall & Winter Races
Here is a list of the major marathon
and half marathon training schedules that will be
available to our members for our 2010-11 season.
If you are interested in any of these popular races
we recommend registering as soon as possible as
most sell out quickly each year. For out of town
races also make hotel reservations as soon as you
sign up for the race preferably with each race's
host hotel which is usually the closest to the start/finish
line. Houston Marathon & Half Marathon
registration does not open until July 27, 2009.
Check out the links to each race's homepage for
race and sign up info. Races highlighted in green
are organized In Flight Running travel trips where
runners are invited to take the show on the road
with us and travel to a race destination. All races
below are linked to the official race site so you
can check out each race, register on-line and make
travel plans. If you have an off the menu race schedule
request that you do not see here we can always accomodate
you.
