"Excel" Interval Training
Hills & Speed Weekly

Summer or Fall Season

This program offers all the interval training you can stand. Both a hill training workout and speed workout are included on Mondays and Wednesday each week for 24 weeks. Great for pure short distance road racers or marathoners or half marathoners preparing for the Houston Marathon, Half Marathon or other fall and winter long distance races. This program can be purchased separately or is included in our "Excel" marathon & half marathon program. 12 weeks of hills or track can also be purchased separately (scroll down for those options). Hill Interval Training
12 Weeks - $85
Summer or Fall Season

US Marathon Olympic Gold medalist, Frank Shorter, once said that hill training is "speed work in disguise" . In our opinion hill training is the missing link that most runners need to take their running to a whole new level. Mimicking hilly terrain during training physically and mentally prepares runners for what they may face on the race course and can help improve race times from the 5K to marathon distance and beyond. Speed Interval Training
12 Weeks - $85
Summer or Fall Season

Do you have the need for speed? Who doesn't and honestly the only way you will run faster is to practice running faster in a controlled environment. Improved times with various interval distances on a 400 meter track improves turnover, form, power and can really help bring those race times down. This program can be purchased separately or is included in our "Essentials" or "Excel" marathon & half marathon program. 2010-11 Marathons & Half Marathons We Train For
Train For Our Flagship Races - Houston & San Antonio Marathons/Half Marathons
Our target races for 2009 & early 2010 include the 2 largest Texas races in Houston and San Antonio. Train for one of our flagship marathons/half marathons this year or choose from a training schedule for other fall or winter races on the chart below.





Last year in it's inagural race, the San Antonio Rock n Roll marathon hit a home run with what became the nation's largest inagural race ever and the largest road race ever run in Texas. Even with the hugeness of this race things seemed to go pretty smoothly. No surprise to us as all Elite racing races nation-wide are the best in the country bar none. This year let us train you for this great race. We will be planning a group road trip for this race so you can train right here in Houston and enjoy support from your coaches on the race course in San Antonio.







We have been training Houston area runners for our Hometown race for over ten years with great success. For first time marathon or half marathoners training for your local race is a wise choice. The Houston marathon is one of the flatest courses in the nation so for more experienced runners it betters their chances of earning that Boston qualifier time. Now in it's 38th year the race has grown in popularity from 113 runners in 1972 to 18,000 in 2009 with runners represented from all 50 states and over 20 countries. The race also has a great Expo which is the largest fitness/wellness expo annually.



Training Schedules Also Available For The Following Fall & Winter Races

Here is a list of the major marathon and half marathon training schedules that will be available to our members for our 2008-09 season. If you are interested in any of these popular races we recommend registering as soon as possible as most sell out quickly each year. For out of town races also make hotel reservations as soon as you sign up for the race preferably with each race's host hotel which is usually the closest to the start/finish line. Houston Marathon & Half Marathon registration does not open until July 17, 2009. Check out the links to each race's homepage for race and sign up info. Races highlighted in green are organized In Flight Running travel trips where runners are invited to take the show on the road with us and travel to a race destination. All races below are linked to the official race site so you can check out each race, register on-line and make travel plans. If you have an off the menu race schedule request we can always accomodate you.
