Founded in 2004 by Fitness Trainer and Running Coach Michael Merlino, In Flight Running provides Houston-area runners with expert-led group training, one-on-one coaching options, and remote coaching programs for athletes worldwide.

We welcome runners of all ages, paces, and experience levels—whether you’re training for your first 5K or aiming for a marathon personal best or Boston Qualifying time.

Our coaching philosophy is simple: create a supportive, non-intimidating environment for beginners while delivering challenging, structured training for experienced runners. No matter where you’re starting, our proven programs help you improve performance, build consistency, and reduce injury risk so you can run strong and confidently.

Our year-round training seasons prepare athletes for every major race distance.  Each runner receives a structured training schedule—accessible online and via a mobile app—to keep them consistent, accountable, and on track.

Weekly workouts include:

  • Tuesday morning/evening interval sessions (track or hills)

  • Saturday long runs with full on-course support

  • Optional strength, form, and technique work
